My January 2021 tending list - all completed and it’s a mix of progress

If you look at the photos above, you will see that both January and February look pretty similar. That is because they pretty much are give or take a few minor changes.

Why?

Because I’m focusing on 90-day goals. Rather than starting each month afresh I’m building momentum and carving out my habits 90 days at a time.

People say it takes 21 days to make or break habit but what about if you want to ingrain that habit firmly in your life? That can take up to 90 days and THIS is where the magic of 90 day goals comes in.

Once you’ve decided on something you really want to create as a habit you can then start doing it daily and if you stick at it for 90 consecutive days you will have mastered a new habit.

When I say habit I’m talking SUPER SMALL. It should be so small that it’s almost silly. It may feel silly but by doing this you are creating a domino effect because one small domino leads to bigger domino effect. Before you know it bigger habits will be an easy thing.

So for example my habit when it came to drinking water wasn’t drink 1 litre a day. It was drink a cup of water first thing on waking up. It’s now something I do nearly everyday. The key is progress not perfect. So if out of 90 days I complete this 50% of the time then that is still huge! Remember to give yourself compassion as building habits is not easy. Neither is breaking bad ones. It takes time but with time you can build or break any habits with focus and intention.

When it comes to the second quarter of the year I will refresh my goals. I can then have a look at what is working and what isn’t working so well and then adjust as needed.

How is your February going so far and what small small things are you focusing on? Let me know in the comments.
