My October Tending List and gearing up for the Q4 of 2021

I’m looking forward to October and to Q4 in general. It’s the season of refresh and new beginnings especially in the planner world.

I start my new Plum Paper daily planner every October and April as I use a 6-month daily planner. Why 6 months and not 12 months? Because for me personally I don’t need all 12 months in one planner. My Cultivate Goal planner has me covered for the whole year and I then feed that into my daily planning.

If you’re not familiar with the Plum Paper planner company go check them out at https://www.plumpaper.com/

I love this planner company for several reasons:

-       You can customise the cover to include your name, a quote, the year, and there are SO many colourful cover options to choose from

-       You can customise the inside of the planner depending on what you need. You can have a daily or weekly spread and each planner comes with the month spread as default at the front. You also get to choose what month your planner starts which means you don’t need to wait until the start of the year to buy one. Hence my planners start in October and April. I find this allows me to set up my planners in September and March when it is much quieter in general.

-       They have add-ons to help make your planner work for you. This includes things like cleaning pages, fitness pages, budgeting pages and so many more.

Then when it comes to goal planning there is one tool that I absolutely adore: The Cultivate What Matters Powersheets Goal Planner. It’s a long title and so for short I call it my Powersheets. I started using this planner 5 years ago and it has literally changed my life. Things I wrote down in my first Powersheets included: start a blog, set up a business of my own among other things. Now looking back – being intentional about what I wanted helped hugely to get where I am today.

What is a goal planner? It’s a planner that helps you decide on your focus for your life and it helps you to track your progress from month to month. It’s about digging deep and thinking about what you want for your life. Cultivate divides this into 8 key life areas namely: family, friends, life partner, health, work, finances, personal growth, and recreation. With Powersheets the monthly progress tracker is called a Tending list and I keep my planner open to this page every day so that it is in my line of vision all the time.

I could talk about both planners forever but then this blog post would end up being far too long. Stay tuned for a separate blog post about all things Powersheets coming later in the month and also YouTube video talking about both planners with an in-depth look at how to use them.

Now for the main part of this post: My October Tending list which is pictured at the start:

October is a busy month in terms of birthdays and social events and I am here for it. I cannot wait to spend time with all my loved ones and create even more memories. This is where my goal planner comes into its own because it helps me keep my legacy building events at the front of my daily life. Having planners is great but if they don’t help you live a life of meaning then it’s not useful. My powersheets help me to remember what’s important and go after the things that matter. These are the things that will help fill my heart with peace.

Spending time with family and friends is never wasted time.

When it comes to my daily habits for October they are mainly the same as earlier in the year with the addition of PM skincare. In the lead up to the wedding I want to really look after my skin long term and build a better relationship with skincare maintenance. The other new addition is calorie macros tracking. I’m not getting obsessed with calories here but looking to make sure I eat enough carbohydrates, protein and fats daily to lead a balanced life.

Then there are my weekly goals which are a mix of coaching, self-care and general tracking (things like finance and weight loss etc).

It’s going to be a busy month, but I am excited and ready for it!

What are you excited about for October and the rest of the year?
